Overview
Contact Item Types are used to categorize additional phone numbers associated with a Contact and define their priority for outbound dialing.
This page describes the Contact Item Types configuration on the New Client Experience, available from version 3.45.0. We recommend using the New Experience web interface to take full advantage of the latest features.
These types allow you to:
Visually distinguish additional numbers via color coding
Set a call priority order used during outbound campaigns, especially in Motion Bull Dialer
Each Contact can have:
One primary phone number
One or more additional phone numbers, each assigned a Contact Item Type
How Contact Item Types Work
It is possible to associate additional phones to a Contact, besides the primary phone.
Each Contact Item Type has:
A name (e.g., Work, Mobile, Secondary)
A priority order (used by the dialer)
An optional background color (for visual identification)
During preview or automated outbound campaigns, the system:
Calls the primary phone number first
Then dials the additional numbers, sorted by:
Order priority (lower value = higher priority; e.g., 1 is highest)
Name (alphabetical order if the same priority)
Create a new Contact Item Type
To create a Contact Item Type:
Navigate to Contacts Manager → Contact Item Types
Click the Add button
Name: display name of the item type
Order by: set the priority to assign to the additional phone number associated with this Contact Item Type.
E.g.,1= highest priority
You can assign the same order value to multiple types; in this case, alphabetical order of the name determines the priority.
RGB Background colour: Choose a color to visually differentiate this type in the contact view
Edit the Contact Item Type
To manage existing Contact Item Types, open the Contact Item Types list:
Click the ⋮ (three dots) icon on the row of the desired item
Choose:
Edit – Modify the item’s name, priority, or color
Delete – Permanently remove the item type
⚠️ Deleting an item type will affect any contacts using it
